Jason Martz, Superintendent of Streets
The Street Department is responsible for maintaining all existing streets within the village limits. Additionally, the department maintains alleys, village right-of-ways, and provides other services such as the collection of branches blown down by storms. admission essay writing service
The department has many seasonal activities which range from snow removal and salting of streets in winter, to tree planting, grass mowing and mosquito control in the summer. It is also responsible for sealing street cracks, filling potholes, painting directional signals on the pavement and is a tremendous support to the Festival of Lights set-up and tear-down.
With the West Nile Virus a serious threat, here are a few tips you can do to help control the mosquito population around the house.
- Keep yards mowed
- Keep bushes trimmed
- Don’t let water stand in bird baths or unused pools.
Things that will hold water will breed mosquitos, such as bottle caps, cans and bottles, tire swings, etc. Please see the attached brochure for additional information.

Brush Chipping Schedule
In order to make more efficient use of labor and equipment, the Village of Archbold has gone to 2 weeks per month for brush chipping, instead of 4 times. This change took effect March 6, 2006. The schedule will be the same weeks as curbside recycling. Please view the schedule, and print for your use. Chipping will start on the north side of the railroad, and the crew will move to the south side when the north is done. The cooperation of residents in this change would be greatly appreciated.brush 001
When you stack your brush at the curb, make sure it is all running in the same direction, with the larger end of the branch toward the curb like the example in the picture.
